Daniel Wilson Presentation and Master Class

E-mail Print

Daniel Wilson (BME, 2009) visited campus this past Friday and gave an excellent presentation on life in grad school, breaking into the playing scene in Dallas, starting a studio in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and his upcoming audition for the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C.

I was especially please that he commented that his education at Henderson was a great help to him in grad school in trumpet, piano, theory, and music history.  (Daniel's website)

Craig Ingram (senior, BME) is entering the International Trumpet Guild mock audition contest.  He performed several excerpts for Daniel and received excellent feedback.

I had a blast -- it was great to see to see one of our recent graduates back on campus working with one of our students!

Meanwhile, David Laubach was in Fort Smith with four trumpet majors attending a clinic by Byron Stripling.  The trumpet studio had a great Friday!

Charles Schleuter on auditions

Check out this bit from Charles Schleuter.  He was principal trumpet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 25 years and an outstanding musician.  There is some great insight and advice about auditions in this article.

Natalie Dungey

Here is Natalie Dungey's website.  It looks like the content is all her own without all of the "puffery" common on other's sites.  She has won the National Trumpet Competition two years in a row now and she is11, 4 years from aging out of her competition division.  This is a player to watch very closely over the next few years...she's going places!
